About Julie A. Jacob
Hello! I’m Julie A. Jacob, a writer and communications professional who lives in Wisconsin near Lake Michigan. I’ve loved books and writing ever since I was a little kid when my mom would take me to the library every week to take home as many books as I could carry. At a young age, I decided to become a writer, and ever since then I’ve been a book lover and writer. I write news and feature articles, essays, and stories.
I have a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master’s degree in journalism from Marquette University. My professional career has focused on healthcare communications, primarily the business and technological aspects of healthcare. I worked for several years as a reporter for the American Medical News before transitioning to corporate communications.
I also do occasional freelance writing. Learn more about my freelancing services and see my clips here.

Bicentennial Eve

My novel, Bicentennial Eve: A Wisconsin Novella was published in 2026 by Fresh Water Press. Bicentennial Eve is a gentle, slice-of-life tale of an ordinary Wisconsin family on the eve of America’s 200th birthday. As the family members go about their day, each one wrestles with their own dilemma. By the time the fireworks start, everyone has taken a step toward their own idea of independence and the pursuit of happiness.
